Curry Cook-Off in S.F. J-Town
SAN FRANCISCO — The 12th annual Japanese American Religious Federation Curry Cook-Off will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Christ United Presbyterian Church, 1700 Sutter St. (at Laguna Street) in San Francisco Japantown.
Come by, eat, and vote for your favorite. Curry categories: General or vegetarian. Contestants receive $30 to subsidize expenses.
Categories and prizes: First place people’s choice, $100; second place people’s choice, $50; judges’ choice, $50; plus prizes for honorable mentions — best vegetarian and kids’ choice.
There will also be a benefit raffle.
Suggested donation for the all-you-can-eat event is $15 general, $8 for kids 5 to 9 years old, free for kids under 5. To purchase tickets, call Rev. Rodney Yano of Konko Church at (415) 931-0453 or email sanfrancisco@konkofaith.org.
Proceeds benefit Kimochi San Mateo Capital Campaign, Senior Residential and Social Services.
