Great Nisei Reunion III Coming to Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH — Stonebridge Productions has announced the details for its highly anticipated concert event, “The Great Nisei Reunion III,” the third (and last) in a series of nostalgic big band concerts created and presented for “the greatest generation, the Nisei.”

Gerald Ishibashi and Mary Kageyama Nomura will headline the Great Nisei Reunion III on Nov. 12.

The Great Nisei Reunion III will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. in Redondo Beach, and will feature The Harry James Orchestra and The Modernaires. Also on the bill are the dynamic Island Crooners and special guest Mary Kageyama Nomura, “The Songbird of Manzanar.”

According to producer Gerald Ishibashi of Stonebridge, this series of concerts is very close to his heart. “My mom was a huge big band fan. When I first started producing shows, I hired many of her favorite performers like Andy Russell, Connie Haines, Tex Beneke and others… It made her so happy, because like so many other Nisei, my mom said that music was like a magic tonic to get them through the ofttimes oppressive camp days.”

He added, “And my mother-in-law, Mary Kageyama Nomura, The Songbird of Manzanar, is still going strong at 92 years young and will be a guest vocalist with The Harry James Orchestra! This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many Sansei, Yonsei and even Gosei to share a life experience with their Nisei parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. It is going to be a great show!”

All seats are reserved and ticket prices are $60 and $45. Tickets can be purchased online at www.purplepass.com/ishibashi or by calling (800) 316-8559. For group rates and additional information and ticket purchases, call Stonebridge/Foxhole Buddy at (310) 627-7272.
