JANM Summer Night Concerts: Viva La Taiko
East L.A. Taiko
The Japanese American National Museum’s summer evening concert series featuring Asian American performers is back with “Viva La Taiko: From Tokyio to Los Angeles.”
On Thursday, July 21, at 7 p.m., the focus is on taiko, with featured performers East L.A. Taiko and Asano Taiko UnitOne.
Asano Taiko UnitOne boasts some of North America’s most exciting performers and a world-class taiko repertoire. The group has performed at the 2015 North American Taiko Conference and the 2015 Extasia festival in Japan.
East L.A. Taiko, featuring Chicana rockstar Lysa Flores, will continue the excitement with their unique and infectious blend of Latin musical roots, Afro-Cuban rhythms, ska-punk riffs, and driving taiko beats.
The free event, which also features food trucks and a beer garden, will take place in JANM Plaza, 100 N. Central Ave. in Little Tokyo.
