Kazuo Masuda
Memorial Day is a day set aside to remember all those killed in action in all wars and also as a reminder of the thousands still held as prisoners of war or missing in action. VFW Post 3670 holds the annual service at the gravesite of S/Sgt. Kazuo Masuda.
Masuda served with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and was killed in action in Italy in 1944. The following year, his Distinguished Service Cross was personally presented to his family by Gen. Joseph Stilwell.
Keynote speaker will be Mary Urashima, author of “Historic Wintersburg in Huntington Beach” and chair of the effort to preserve Historic Wintersburg, once the site of a thriving Japanese American community.
Attendees will also be treated to vocals by the talented Miko Shudo.
Refreshments will be served courtesy of So-Phis.
