L.A. Daiku New Year’s Concert Set for Jan. 10

The L.A. Daiku choral group has been blessed with many opportunities to perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, locally and also in Japan since 2009, and built a strong bridge through chorus.

The group will hold its 2016 New Year’s Concert at the Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo on Sunday, Jan. 10. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., with the performance getting under way at 4.

This concert is intended to give people a chance to open a brand new year with great enjoyment and energy. Both Beethoven’s 9th and “Fukushima Requiem” will be performed by a 100-singer chorus with a full orchestra.

Conducting will be Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein, with featured soprano Elissa Johnston, mezzo-soprano Tracy Van Fleet, tenor Robert MacNeil, and baritone Dean Elzinga, along with the L.A. Daiku Orchestra.

The chorus will consist of members of L.A. Daiku, the Pasadena Master Chorale, the All Japan Daiku Singers, and local community singers.

Tickets are $25. The Aratani Theatre is located at 244 S. San Pedro St. (between Second and Third streets) in Little Tokyo. For more information, email LADaiku@aol.com.
