‘Love at Least’ at Japan Foundation L.A.

“Love at Least” (2018, 109 minutes) will be screened on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at Japan Foundation Los Angeles, 5700 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 100, Los Angeles.

An adaptation of a novel by Akutagawa Prize-winning author Motoya Yukiko, this moving depiction of the growing distance between a woman dealing with isolation and a vacuous guy marks the feature film debut of video director Sekine Kosai.

Yasuko’s (Yasuko Shuri) depression-triggered sleeping disorder keeps her in bed most of the time and has turned her into a social recluse. She lives with Tsunaki (Masaki Suda), who is in charge of gossip articles at a publishing house. His former girlfriend Ando (Riisa Naka) encourages Yasuko to return to society and tries to make Tsunaki break up with her.

Free; reservation not required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. JFLA provides high-quality Japanese film screenings every second and fourth Wednesday. Coming on Feb. 27: “Isle of Dogs.” For more information, call (323) 761-7510 or visit www.jflalc.org.
