Miyagi Comes to Mitsuwa
Miyagi-ken, one of the Tohoku prefectures recovering from the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, showcased a variety of its food products from Jan. 14 to 17 at the Mitsuwa supermarket in Torrance.
The Miyagi Fair featured such dishes as Kesennuma Tuna Mix Bowl and Sendai Wagyu Bento; a cooking class; activities for children; tourism information; and a visit from Miyagi Prefecture and Sendai City tourism mascot Musubimaru.
Takeno Suzuki, international relations coordinator for the Miyagi prefectural government and former San Franciscan, is pictured with Yoshihito Yonezawa, president of the Nanka Miyagi Kenjinkai and Miyagi “kizuna ambassador.”
