All are welcome to attend. The program is sponsored by the Greater L.A. Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League.
Osako will cover the origins, history, and current status of the 11-year campaign. Stamp Our Story, formerly called the Nisei World War II Stamp Campaign, is a grassroots effort that seeks a commemorative postage stamp to be issued by the U.S. Postal Service that features the Japanese American World War II soldiers.
Begun in 2005 by three Nisei ladies from California, this campaign continues today. One of the founders is a Gardena local, Chiz Ohira, widow of Ted Ohira, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, H Company. Aiko O. King of Camarillo and Fusa Takahashi of Granite Bay are co-founders.
