Penryn Obon Odori on Aug. 1

PENRYN — Placer Buddhist Church, 3192 Boyington Rd. in Penryn, will hold its Obon Odori on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Udon will be sold from 5 to 7 p.m. After a taiko performance at 7 p.m., dancing will begin. Before and during the dancing, the Dharma School will be selling snow cones, soda and water.

Remaining dance practices are at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 24; Monday, July 27; Wednesday, July 29; and Friday, July 31.

On Aug. 1, cemetery services are scheduled for 8 a.m. at Auburn, 9 a.m. at Newcastle, and 10 a.m. at Rocklin, followed by Obon, Hatsubon and monthly memorial service at the church at 11 a.m. After the service, otoki will be provided for attendees.

Save the date: 51st annual Food Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
