MOUNTAIN VIEW — Tadaima Bay Area presents “Raising Awareness and Fostering Acceptance in Our Nikkei Families” on Sunday, March 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mountain View Buddhist Temple, 575 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Mountain View.

Hear personal stories from individuals, parents, and family members who overcame fear as they searched for acceptance and discovered a renewed sense of self. Learn what it means to be an ally and show your support for more inclusion of LGBTQQ people in our families and the Nikkei community.

Special guests include Amy Haruyama and Akemi Hamai, Rev. Nobu Hanaoka, and Russ and Judy Nakano. Moderator: Elly Matsumura.

This is part of a series of events leading up to “Tadaima: A Japanese American Gathering of LGBTQQ and Allies,” an all-day conference, on Saturday, April 2, at San Jose State University.

Tadaima, which brings together Japanese American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals and allies, is sponsored by Asian Law Alliance, PRIDE Center and Gender Equity Center (SJSU), Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Dr. Jerry Hiura, Buddhist Church of San Francisco, Buena Vista United Methodist Church, APIQWTC, J-Sei, and more.
