‘Reclaiming Tohoku’ Screening at JCCCNC

SAN FRANCISCO — A special film screening showing how the people of Tohoku are building a bright future for themselves five years after the earthquake and tsunami destroyed so much will take place Tuesday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, 1840 Sutter St. in San Francisco Japantown.

The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program Alumni Association of Northern California (JETAANC) and JCCCNC will host the world premiere of the “113 Project: Reclaiming Tohoku” series of short films, showing people in Tohoku telling their stories of renewal and hope.

Featuring a Q&A with the filmmaker, Wesley Julian (JET Program), Takeno Chiyo Suzuki (Miyagi Prefectural Office), and community members knowledgeable about Tohoku recovery. Light refreshments will be provided.

All proceeds go to the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund, which has been helping the children and families of Tohoku, who are still recovering and need continued help: http://tamf.jp/en/
