San Jose Japantown to Celebrate Halloween
SAN JOSE — The following family-friendly Halloween activities will take place in San Jose Japantown on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
4 to 6:30 p.m.: JACL arts and crafts at Issei Memorial Building, 565 N. 5th St.
5 to 5:30 p.m.: San Jose Taiko performance at Fellowship Hall of Wesley United Methodist Church, 566 N. 5th St. Safety presentation by San Jose Taiko and San Jose Police Department.
Donate to UNICEF trick-or-treat collection. Bring a dollar or your spare change. Boxes will be at the taiko performance.
Japantown Business Association will be giving away free children’s books. Limited availability, so pick yours up just outside Fellowship Hall.
5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Trick-or-treating in Japantown. New this year: Jackson Street will be closed to cars from 4th to 6th streets and Japantown merchants will be giving away treats to all kids in costume. “Trunk ‘N’ Treat” from Wesley parking lot off 5th Street.
New: Haunted House at Northside Community Center, Empire and 6th Street. Admission: $3.
7:30 to 9 p.m.: New this year: San Jose Taiko has invited friends from Epic Immersive and The Get Down to host a few post-trick-or-treat activities. Silent film showing with live taiko soundtrack on Jackson Street. SJT and The Get Down dance party on 5th and Jackson.
