Tribute to Adachi at Asian Art Museum
SAN FRANCISCO — The Asian Art Museum, 200 Larkin St. in San Francisco’s Civic Center, released the following announcement:
Jeff Adachi, 1959-2019
“Join us in a memorial to San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi’s life and a tribute to his accomplishments.
“Jeff Adachi will be remembered for his tireless defense of those without a voice. One of the most influential public defenders in the country — and the only elected one in California — Adachi was at the center of the most forward-thinking law cases in San Francisco over the past three decades, preparing the way for how we now approach everything from personal privacy to policing.”
The tribute will be held in Samsung Hall on Friday, March 1, from 12 to 2 p.m. Free admission. Attendees are welcome to bring their lunches.
Guest speakers will include:
– Francisco Ugarte, immigration attorney, San Francisco Public Defender’s Office
– Michelle Tong, deputy public defender, San Francisco Public Defender’s Office
– Jay Xu, director and CEO, Asian Art Museum
– Joe Eskenazi, Mission Local
– Matt Gonzalez, chief attorney, San Francisco Public Defender’s Office
– Don Young, Director of Programs, Center for Asian American Media
Adachi’s 60-minute documentary “Defender” will screen after the speakers.
